Mosaic Press was founded as a Canadian publisher dedicated to presenting significant and excellent Canadian writing. The first press release in 1975 declared “Mosaic is multi-cultural in its scope, and is concerned with the publication of works that reflect the Canadian ethnic mosaic.”
For over 40 years now, Mosaic Press has tried to hold to these ambitions. Broadway Musicals, crime mystery fiction, Chinese Military Theory…welcome to the fascinating mosaic that is Mosaic Press. We are all about variety, diversity and passion. Our publishing programme focuses on four major areas: Literature, including fiction, short fiction and poetry; The Arts, including Theatre, Fine Art and Music; Social Studies and International Studies. As an Oakville, Ontario based company, we have always tried to highlight voices from our local area as a key part of our programme. Overall, we have managed to publish over 600 books with some 20 original titles published each year. Mosaic Press is a wholly-owned Canadian company, federally incorporated and founded by Michael Walsh in 1975.
For the last two decades, Mosaic Press has established a very strong global presence with our internationally recognized list. We have had works translated in over a dozen languages and sold translation rights for our titles to over 38 countries, including Germany, Mexico, Holland, Denmark, France, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, India, Portugal, England, Israel and the United States. In addition, Mosaic Press has sold audio and film rights to a number of our titles as well as book club rights. We have also co-published with a number of Canadian and foreign publishers.
